"The videos below are really excellent and definitely worth getting if you really want to understand your child who is Dyslexic or has Special Learning Difficulties.  Although I purchased the teacher tapes, these were very relevant to parents as well!  See note at end about ordering via e-mail, which is very efficient.  I ordered my videos on a Monday and they arrived on the Friday of the same week"

Strategies for Improving Children's Behavior

Host Richard Lavoie, a nationally-known expert on learning disabilities, offers practical advice on dealing with behavioral problems quickly and effectively. He shows how preventive discipline can anticipate many problems before they start. And he explains how teachers and parents can create a stable, predictable environment in which children with learning disabilities can flourish. 1997
62 minute Video and Discussion Guide: $49.95

"This is a superb video, we were both glued to it, some of the things he recommends are so obvious, yet many of us do not apply them.  It enables you to see things through a different set of eyes and understand where your child is coming from".

Learning Disabilities and Social Skills with Richard Lavoie

Playing with friends is a daily ritual for most children. But kids with learning disabilities are often isolated and rejected. Their problems making and keeping friends are compounded by their poor social skills. The challenges confronting learning disabled children in their lives both in and out of the classroom are examined. 1994.

How Difficult Can This Be?

The F.A.T. City Workshop

Video cover - How difficult can it be?

This unique program allows viewers to experience the same frustration, anxiety and tension that children with learning disabilities face in their daily lives. Teachers, social workers, psychologists, parents and friends who have participated in Richard Lavoie's workshop reflect upon their experience and the way it changed their approach to L.D. children. 1989.
70 minute Video and Discussion Guide: $49.95

"This video was very entertaining because it really puts you in the shoes of the disadvantaged child with learning difficulties.  At times when you can't 'get' things, you feel really stupid and get to know,  if only for an hour, how it must feel to be a special needs child in a classroom of "normal" kids"

Learning Disabilities and Self-Esteem with Robert Brooks
Look What You've Done !

Stories of Hope and Resilience

Whether they've failed a spelling test or dropped an easy pop fly, kids with learning disabilities hear those words far too often. It's no wonder they often give up hope. And it's no wonder we sometimes overlook what Dr. Robert Brooks calls the "every-day courage" of our children. Dr. Brooks, a nationally-known expert on learning disabilities, says we need to find each child's "islands of competence" and then build on those strengths. He offers practical strategies for helping children develop the confidence and resilience they will need to succeed. 1997

"Again another good video which shows you new ways of approaching things, and how key it is to build our children's self esteem, without which they will find it tough in life.  Some excellent examples which you can relate to and by the end of the video, you may approach things a little different with special needs children"
