What is Bright Solutions for Dyslexia, LLC?

Bright Solutions for Dyslexia, LLC is a training and consulting firm dedicated to creating effective resources for children and adults with dyslexia by educating parents, teachers, and other professionals about Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Disorder. We also train professional and volunteer tutors, as well as parents, in the Barton Reading & Spelling System, which takes dyslexic students' reading and spelling skills to the eighth-grade level.

Susan Barton, Founder of Bright Solutions for Dyslexia, LLC

Susan Barton is an internationally recognized expert in the field of Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Disorder.

After receiving a degree in psychology and criminal justice, Susan spent the first 20 years of her adult life founding, growing, and selling three high-tech businesses in California. But watching her dyslexic nephew's continuous struggle in school compelled Susan to change her focus to the field of dyslexia. She has since won many awards for her work in this field.

Susan spent years tutoring adults and children with dyslexia. She is trained in 7 different Orton-Gillingham-based reading systems. Yet when she began to train brand-new tutors, she recognized the need for an easier-to-learn and easier-to-use system. To satisfy that need, she developed the Barton Reading and Spelling System, now in pilot testing at elementary schools and adult literacy programs in California.

As founder of Bright Solutions for Dyslexia, Susan devotes her time to educating parents, teachers, and tutors about the causes, the symptoms, and the appropriate remediation techniques for students with dyslexia and/or ADD. In addition to offering seminars to the public, she conducts in-service trainings throughout the Western United States.

Susan is also an instructor in Phonemic Awareness and Multisensory Teaching Methods at the University of California, and in Learning Disabilities at West Valley College. She has recently been the keynote speaker at conferences for the Canadian Dyslexia Association, California Literacy, and the California Learning Disabilities Association.

Susan is a member of the International Dyslexia Association, Ch.A.D.D., the Learning Disabilities Association, Parents Helping Parents, and the Association for Educational Therapists.
