Dyslexia and the law
The recent law court ruling in the House of Lords puts increased pressure on Local Education Authority's (LEA) and schools to take dyslexia seriously, and on teachers to take responsibility for spotting it in pupils.

Back in 1997, Pamela Phelps won £45,000 damages against her LEA after she left school with the reading ability of a 10-year-old. She says they failed to realise she was dyslexic. Cherie Blair helped bring her case before the courts and argued that she was denied the opportunity of further education and faced a life of "temporary menial tasks."  Click above for full Parliament Document.
